There are some tutorials online, look for Cinemagraphs, you basically shoot high def video and then import he frames into Photoshop, then use one frame as a mask, then create an animated gif.

Yes, those are the best of the bunch, shows that tricks aren't really needed but it's all a bit of fun

Thanks for that, I've been taking a gander at the tutorials.

You make it sound very easy, but it clearly takes a good deal of effort to both "see" the potential and capture suitable material and to actually put the theory into practice and make it work.

Clearly, these Cinemgraphs need to be displayed electronically to see the movement.

Are Digital Photo frames capable of displaying this file format, that would make for a really interesting display.

Nick these are some stunning images, as yours always are. I love the processing on your shots, they look very "authentic" if that makes any sense.

I also love the movement in some of those shots, very clever and very effective. Reminds of something out of harry potter!
