It's not that long since I've had my Nikon D5000, I just had a look on their website and they have a new D5100 out.
It seems to be quite similar to the D5000 but it has full 1080p video. I think it still has the same mono microphone (which on the d5000 is s
t), but it has a Mic input. This is exactly what I felt the d5000 is lacking, and I'm considering upgrading..
Has anyone had a chance to use the d5100?
I don't know how I feel after not having the camera very long, I guess it's an expensive hobby though, haha.

It sounds like video is a big thing for you? Maybe worth weighing the cost difference up against a reasonable camcorder. I have no idea how quality compares mind.
If you're generally happy with everything else about the D5000, I'd say the D5100 is a reasonable upgrade. Much better sensor as well especially in low light by all accounts. The other option you maybe should look at is the D7000. Same video etc but better external controls and a built in focus motor. Bit more money of course and doesn't have the articulated screen.
