Are you shooting with an SLR?
If so, try a slower shutter speed and use the panning technique with the moving shots to get a sensation of movement and speed.
I'd also try to get a bit more artisitc and abstract with the static pictures. Look for little odd details and make them the key focus point - using a shallow DoF will help with this.
Keep at it though. I've learnt a lot myself from browsing this forum!
