Model Mayhem

Does anyone on here use MM much to get models? I only signed up recently and arranged two TFP shoots (location lifestyle/fashion type) over the last week. The model called off the first as her chaperone was mucking her about and the second failed to show up without even dropping me a message. Is this par for the course or am I being unlucky? Neither were particularly experienced models, so I'd thought TFP would be a reasonable motivation for them to turn up. Looks like I was wrong...

Use it every so often. Like anywhere else, it's got some good people and some bad'uns. I tend to shoot from home most of the time and only bring in a team when I know the models already.

Still doesnt mean it cant go tits up though, had a model testing from Boss, MUA, hair stylist and makeup booked only for the hired studio to cancel at 6am the morning of the shoot. st happens..

I went for years without any flakes but have had some recently. This was kicking around on the forums over there...

As said before there are some good-uns and some bad-uns on there. Last minute shoots tend to flake out I find. Check if they have references and if they update their profile regularly. Also, if you don't have any references or modelling shots on your profile then they are quite likely to flake! Works both ways.

Good to hear it's not only me.

Am waiting to see if the 1st one that flaked due to 'chaperone issues' gets back in touch to reschedule, that might restore my faith in models a bit.

Thats a topic in itself! I personally cant be arsed with it, soon as that comes into the discussion it's not worth bothering with from past experience. I get why the person might want someone else with them, but being reliant on a third party who might not have any interest in sitting around for a few hours bored stiff doesnt make sense to me

I NEVER reschedule after they have flaked, if they flake once they will flake again, there are plenty of other models out there. I found that out the hard way.

I deliberately turned down any models under the age of 18 who responded to my casting call as I didn't want the hassle of parents/guardians being around. Given that I've no MM history I figured this one bringing her friend along was a reasonable precaution. However as you say, it's someone sitting around for a couple of hours not doing anything who would rather be elsewhere...

I am a member on MM, I have not worked with anyone from there. I tend to stick with Purestorm, there are reliable people on there and unreliable, I think we all get a fair share of both at times.
