Has anyone ventured into this properly yet? I'm toying with picking up one of the Fuji's and seeing if I can shoot an editorial with it. I have no idea what to expect from it, but a couple of hundred quid and something a bit different/interesting sounds like fun!

With work, yes, as there's a bit of TV being produced in 3D. We use a massively heavy (and expensive) rig, with an RF system, mounted on a steadicam, the level of complexity from an engineering perspective is a whole order of magnitude greater than current systems.
Never tried anything for stills or home/amateur video use though, so it'll be interesting to see how that Fuji works. I'm presuming you're looking at it from a stills perspective?

If you go for one of these then get the W3 as opposed to the W1, it's a big improvement.
These cameras are just. A bit of fun, they take fantastic 3d stills and also the movies are great. I bought my self the W3 for Xmas and then took it on a Carribean cruise shortly after. The videos from the cuise were great, a subject ideal for the medium with plenty of close mid and distance interest.
The screenon the camera is fine for viewing but you need to connect the camera to a 3 d tv to show images and movies to a group.
Downsides
To play back images and videos you need to keep the camera tethered to tv.
Although you can obviously copy the files from the card to a HDD to view them in 3d they need to be on the SD card in the camera.
You therefore need lots of cards or else the faff of copying file back and forth.
As a MAC user the supplied software is not compatible

So far assemble editing off the 3d videos has not been possible, I'm hopeful that Fujifilm will overcome this soon
