Which studio lights?

I have been doing a few studio shoots (just people) and have a set of basic interfits which are ok for the job however not great.

Both model lights have blown and the IR triggers are pretty pants and they do not seem that stable.

Whats the 'next step'? I do this as a hobby so not looking to spend fortunes just something a bit better than the interfits.

Any ideas?

We use Elinchrom/Prolinca. Try looking for secondhand lights.

You could always fix?! The bulbs (I'm guessing you dont mean tubes?) arent expensive you know, and triggers can be sorted easy enough. I use Pocket Wizards as I couldnt get reliability from IR.

If you want to replace but dont fancy Elinchrom/Bowens pricing, give Elemental a look, or Bessell.

Yeah triggers your looking at plain dumb triggers so get some yongnuo rf603's (should come with pc synch cables).

Last year I bought an Elinchrom D-Lite4 kit. £549

A pair of lights that come with stands, softboxes and wireless trigger. Very happy with them although they have only had moderate usage.

for info youngnuo's dont work with the interfit stellar range of lights; not sure about the other models.

Thanks guys - might try the triggers first and then go from there as the lights themselves are ok its just the reliability that lets them down!
