Calculating sunset and sunrise positions

Guys, I'm after a bit of help. I searched both here and Google and I can't seem to actually find what I want.

The sunsets where I am in sunny Hertfordshire are pretty good at the moment. I want to go out tonight and get a few shots but I don't know any locations of the top of my head and I'm not clear on how to work out where the sun sets and rises without using trial and error. I know photographers do work it out, so how do they do it?
