My Photo Website

In the last week or so I have set-up my first website dedicated to the photographs I have taken. I was hoping some of you good pistonhead folk would have a look and give me your honest opinions on the website, design and content.

There aren't a huge amount of photos on there yet and some of them I'm not overly happy with but the way I see it is it's a start. As I've never done anything like this before your comments would be most appreciated.

My first impression is your home page image needs changing - seems very dull, grey and lacklustre. I want to be grabbed and excited by the first picture I see!

Site works well, though I'd agree it's a bit 'greyscale' on the top level. There are some great images, but (IMHO) many lack shadows and highlights. A bit of post processing va va voom would help them a lot.

I agree about the first impact your site has. I don't mind the layout and colours(grey scale) but I don't think that image has a lot of impact, i.e. lacking sharpness, low contrast etc. Good luck with the improvement!

I'm a relative newcomer to photography with 6-7 months with my dslr so my post processing skills are somewhat lacking. So to increase shadow and highlights should I be looking at boosting contrast, or what else should I be doing?

I wouldn't say the image needs boosting by shadow/highlight. It needs a new image for the first one.

The one on there doesn't really make me interested or say "wow" which is what it needs to do.
