My colleague pointed this website out to me this morning and the prices seem way too good to be true, my gut feeling is some kind of scam. Does anyone have any experience of them?

For example, Canon ef-s 17-55 2.8, most retailers are currently selling this for in excess of £800, simply electronics who are always dirt cheap (and slightly dodgy i hear)have it for £709.99, best-dslr-deals .com ... £574.05!

Other deals include canon 70-200 2.8L IS £1256.64 and a 7d for £826.07.

Too good to be true, surly!

hmm googling the contact us address gives you Martin's Camera Shop Ltd, with fair more sensible prices. Very fishy i think.

ah seems they were formally yorkshirecameras.com, who are well documented on t'interweb as scammers. I find it surprising how people are sucked in by these, my suspicions were raised as soon as i saw the prices but the chap who pointed me towards the website (an ex-cop!) was going to buy something of it!

Along the same lines - does anyone recall the legitimate site which does a price search for I think Canon gear? it's something like cheapcannondeals.com (or something along those lines) and is just a price comparison site - but seemed to be much better than google products or pricerunner etc. Or, for that matter, the best non-dodgy place to get hold of a body only 600D?

My poor old 350D has finally bitten the dust, so time for an upgrade

The site is hosted by "secureserver.net" which after some investigation appears to be part of GoDaddy.

So you could try contacting GoDaddy and see what they have to say - don't expect much though.

Does anyone know where these people are based ? Have they got an office ? Dies anyone have any information about the company ?

I'm guessing you were suckered in and are now seeking to reclaim your money ?

I read that the people behind these scams are based in Eastern Europe somewhere or possibly Russia. They set-up web hosting deals using stolen credit card information, so even going via their ISP (with police backing) will be of limited value, though you might be able to get the site closed down.

If you have been conned, then the best approach would be to get in touch with your bank and the police asap, though I doubt they will be able to do much.
