(rant warning)

Has anyone else noticed this?

A wedding outside London. Normal people on normal wages. 'Yes, we'd like you for the whole day please. Where do we send the deposit?' Ching, done. Everybody happy.

A London wedding: 'We both work in banking and are totally loaded but only want you for two hours. Budget is £150'.

nnnnnngghhhhhhhhhh

That's probably because everything else in London costs two or three times what it does in the rest of the country. Having got married in London (and being a banker) I am painfully aware of this!

I wish our photographer only cost £150....actually I don't because the photo's were brilliant and worth every penny.

It wasn't a go at bankers per se, but a comment that the more people earn, the meaner they seem to get. Even had one couple getting married in St Pauls but apparently I was too expensive!

And for some reason the London weddings are the ones who say 'we only want you for the ceremony and maybe a short while afterwards'. Perhaps London-based togs do five weddings a day at one hour each? Dunno, but I doubt it.

It's an interesting contrast with a country wedding which was just a registry office and a pub lunch for 25. I was the biggest single part of their budget, which was quite astonishing (and flattering)!

I'm sure they'd think nothing of spending £150+ on a night out and a meal with nothing to show for it, yet they want their special day on the cheap. F'ing amazing!

That's because their pretenders....can't really afford the big wedding but want to do it so will cut corners everywhere.

No idea why you wouldn't have the tog all day....the later the night the better the photos. Very strange!

I had a wedding enquiry from a chap last year who worked in a 'Bailed-out bank', reasonably senior position from what I could gather...his initial email asked for a discount... I felt like telling him he'd already had it!

Offer him a discount of +20%; he might be stupid enough to agree biggrin

Or 'Yes, I'll give you a 10% discount if you give me 10% interest on my current account... (pause) ...what do you mean, it doesn't work like that?'
