Panasonic DMC-G3 - looks good?

I want to get a small DSLR camera and have seen the new Panasonic DMC-G3 which looks like it fits the bill. I have no real experience in photography but want a camera that can take excellent photographs and be reasonably small.

Does anyone have any experience of this model or others that would be ideal?

(seems expensive to me... unless you REALLY want 'small' an entry level Nikon or Canon are not that big with a kit lens)
