Birthday present lens

G/F's birthday is coming up and she's hinted that she'd like a new lens. She has a Canon 550D, a 50mm 1.8 and a 28-80, and is bored of the 50mm now in terms of it's field of view.

She mostly shoots people, portraits and the odd bit of weirdness and landscapes. I was thinking of picking her up one of those Samyang 85mm's or a Canon 85mm. I don't think that she'd get any use from a UWA

Anyone have any other suggestions? I'd thought about a 24-70 but thats kind of covered with the 28-80, and aperture isn't really bothering her on that lens

I'd go for the Canon 85mm f1.8, if your GF likes taking portraits, she'll love this lens, its outstanding for the price. IQ and Bokeh are to die for.

Another vote here for the Canon 85mm f/1.8. Absolutely fabulous lens and perfect for portraits.

135L is cheaper than the 24-70L, so is the 100L macro I think!? (tho it doesnt have to be the L I guess).

I'd avoid the rokinon unless she has a love of manual focus and has a cats eye focus screen.

I'd probably go for the 85mm f1.8 or 100mm f2, both are well regarded and have much better build quality than her 50mm f1.8.
