Any good books to learn photography??

Hi all

I've been given a canon powershot s2 is and I'm wanting to learn how to use it properly, preferably to the standard of the photographer that has his own Facebook business, haha.
Is there any decent books or websites out there that will be able to give me some good tutorials on how to use it properly?

Hmm.

"How to use the camera" = RTFM (the Manual)

"How to take pleasing images" = no. There's lots of drivel with a smattering of good books out there, but the way to get good pictures is probably to always carry the camera and use it a lot!

yeah been reading it, and trying everything in there

Yeah i've been taking it everywhere with me, i've taken about 300 pictures and theres only about 10 that are any good, Im trying out all the f stops and iso but its all really confusing.

I'll keep trying.

Do you think it would be worth while starting a "tips and tricks for beginners" thread on here? or is there far too much to learn?
