Its not 43rds its a smaller sensor. The sensor phase AF looks good but..Very limited lens set, priced higher! than the D3100 and D5100!!
And no manual controls unless yuou go to the menu system.
This ISNT a funky photographers tool like the x100, its a P&S with a useless lens mount at SLR prices.

These are toys for the wanna be P&S crowd. With a total of 4 lenses so far. Nikon will make f mount lenses for the next 50 years or so...

I'd like to see a D3 operating through a hole the size of a sparrow's arse!(though the FX boys probably think that of DX anyway!)

For a carry it about at most times camera,
the sensor size is much larger than a P&S

To me, the autofocus system is the only interesting thing about this camera, appearing to combine the accuracy of contrast detect with the speed of phase detect.

Well the D700 does exist, but the others haven't yet, 400 will (maybe) replace the 300. Don't know what they'll do when the 500 & 600 replace previous ones. Perhaps "do a Porsche" In other words, if someone decides they really want a 4/3-style camera, there is a Nikon amongst the choices.

At least you have a choice of pink now The Nikon rumour sites say D800 this year & D4 'probably' this year. TBH even though I'm on a list, I doubt I'll see mine before Spring. Kinda' suits me as I'm buying a car for Mrs Get and my Mac is slowly dying and needs replacing.
O/T (as if I'm not already) The BBC tech programme 'Click' FINALLY suggested that camera manufacturers are now saying (with regard to amount of pixels) 'Less is more'. This hopefully means I'll not hear another person try and impress me with the mp he has on his compact!
