I want to go up there at night and get some astro shots with the dish in the foreground. I did email them a couple of months ago asking if that was allowed but they didn't bother to reply.

Anyone been up there? Can you get close-ish at night?

Looks like it as loads of night shots on Flickr. Some nice star trail ones too.

Yeah I saw a few on Flickr before but don't know if they were there with permission, or had done some hedge-hopping. I'll have to have a look on google maps I suppose, bit too far to do a recce beforehand.

I went there last Summer and they were closing the entry gate at around 5pm.

To be honest its so big you need to be a decent distance from it anyway to get anything else in shot!

You can see it from miles around from various back roads, I'd go for an explore

I think I'll get it all in at 16mm, and I won't be going into their grounds at night It's a bit far to have a look around, I'm in Hertford.
