sony point n shoot ..often have the last pic missing??

ive got a sony cybershot point n shoot jobbie , does fine for my needs

at first i thought it was me being mistaken , but quiete often i take a set of snaps and then transfer them to my laptop to find the last picture is missing

any ideas ?

Wild guess but are you filling the card each time? If so maybe the last file isn't writing properly.

no where near filling the card , its a big un and im taking progreess pics of some car refurb work , loading say 10-20 pics at a time only

im loading them on laptop like this- card into card reader slot , open folder and view my pics , cut and paste into a folder where i want them

So can you see all the shots you have just taken on the card before you cut and paste? Or is the last one missing at that point already?

Are these all jpgs?

In particular is the last one a .jpg?

no theyre not there at the cut paste stage , like i say i assumed i was mistaken but this week ive made a point of remembering what the last shot is , bang the card and its not there

doesnt do it every time either

Seems odd.

I assume you can't lose a file through switching off too quickly? (The camera should counter that anyway I would have thought.)

If you can review the last image on the camera's monitor then it's been saved somewhere, if not on the card then in the camera's own memory.

i will try and look at the pics on the camera before i load the card into the lappy

Maybe it is defaulting to internal memory (capacity one image perhaps) and only using the card when that is full. Hence n-1 images on card. Get the manual and explore the custom options.

Any cameras I have had with internal memory have only ever used it if there was no card inserted. I don't think many (Any?) cameras these days have internal memory do they?

I thought they had enough for one in-store demo shot without needing a card, but may be wrong.
