Dirty or broken?

I've started noticing a few bright pink pixels in images taken by my trusty old Canon G9. Always in the same location, thankfully they are not too noticeable at the moment. Anyone know if dust inside the camera could cause this? Or is the sensor on the way out? It's had a hard life, hopefully this doesn't turn into a "what do I replace it with?" thread...

Hot pixels on the sensor. There may be a software solution to remove them from all photos if they are in the same place.

And if you like the G9 why not a G12? Can;t remember the lens spec (or the overall spec) of the G9 the G12 (or G11 which can be picked up for a few quid less) would probably give you continuity.
