JPEGS not shown by TV

I've noticed that any pictures I've taken in portrait rather than landscape are not displayed when viewing the pictures on my Sony TV (using DNLA), which is linked to my router. The pictures (jpegs) are automatically rotated to the correct orientation when I import them onto the PC from the camera (Canon 550D). If I manually rotate them through 360 degrees on the PC, the TV can then 'see' them?
If I connect the camera via HDMI directly to the TV, they are displayed correctly, so it's only when the TV is accessing them on my PC via my network.

Anyone have any ideas why this might be?

I assume you mean that the TV itself can't display them using it's own inbuilt software?

If that is the case have you tried updating the TV's software? I can only assume it may be able to do this with a LAN connection.

Otherwise it may be a limitation of the TV's software.
