Really gotta get a digi camera.
I could either get an EOS300D when I go to Andorra in a couple of months or wait/save for a 10D (or whatever its replacement will be).

What do you reckon I should do?

Bare in mind that Iall the time I have my 35mm SLR Im losing money on developing costs (£50 - £100 /month on average).

Whatever you do Adam, don't rush into this and make any hasty decisions!

I'd go for the 300D now - I'd have thought that you'll get more out of having a 300D now than the extra functionality of a 10D at some point in the future.

Speaking as someone who has just blown a pile of loot on my D70

I'd suggest that having a digital camera during your trip - when you will have plenty of time to use it and enjoy it is more important than which model you get.

You could always consider factoring some of the expenditure onto a 0% interest card or some such device. I hate doing that, personally, I prefer to pay outright for toys but if it means you have the camera you want during the best opportunity to use it maybe it'd be worth it!

Good thoughts, thanks guys.

I forgot to mention that Mr Edward Hasler is prohibited from posting here as if I talk to him too much I'll end up on L series lenses too!

Im getting a restraining order against your posts/emails (Unless of course you have any more accessories you wanna chuck my way! Im after a wide angle lense, a 1.4x/2x converter, eyepiece, flashgun and anything else!)

I am of course kidding Ed, you're a great help. Tripod is still great thanks. Got some of my best pics recently whilst testing new 300mm lens on the cats (as usual!).

There are firmware updates around for the 300D which offer almost the same functionalty than the 10D. Then the only difference is the plastic body. But then again, if you drop a 300D or a 10D both will be cooked up no matter what the body is made of. I'd go (actually, have gone) for the 300D.

Sounds interesting, are they available for download somewhere?

Haven't done it yet. I just found out there is another firmware version available. I will switch to the Russian version soon and let you know.
