hp photosmart ink

Hi all

Can anyone recommend the best place to get ink for my photosmart printer?

there are plenty of suppliers on ebay but if someone knows a particular place to go, that would be great

I used cartridge world for my last lot of inks for my Canon. Damn sight cheeper than buying brand new.

I tried generic and refilled cartridges for my HP printers and they were all noticeably worse compared with HP ones, either poor colour or blocked jets. Something to do with HPs using pigments not inks I believe. So wherever you get them, if quality is important to you I'd stay with HP ones.

I do however sell the empties back to Cartridge World for £1 each to keep 14-7 in stock

Don't know about 'best', but I've used http://www.ijtdirect.co.uk several times without problems.

I bought a photosmart mainly for AirPrint, it replaced an old Epsom which was very good.

Haven't got a good picture from the photosmart yet, it is low on ink now and I am hoping when I get new ink it will be better.

I know what you're saying but it cost me something like £30 for 3 of each cartridge (21 cartridges).

To buy one black Canon cartridge is £13 or £14. The colours are around the same so it was becoming stupidly expensive to replace them. The Canon ones also didn't seem to last that long.

True - which is why on the rare occasions I need photographs printed to any size, I use Photobox.

I did similar and the printer output is shocking, nearly all the prints after the first couple have very bad banding, they see to run out of ink almost as soon as you put them in.

Not really sure how i can take the printer back though.

It's fking crap give me a refund might not be the best way.

This is the problem !

My Epson was very good and I didn't need to mess about with it, thought I was upgrading but it doesn't feel like it at the moment.

It ran out of the ink it came with almost straight away, I will try some new ink and see how it goes.

We put in 2 fresh ink cartridges and 3 are out now, might have to take it back, won't get a refund for the extra cartridges though .

Might get a small cheap B&W laser printer instead for documents, much cheaper.

An assistant in Office World or possibly Staples told me that the printers as sold do not have full cartridges.

I have a Photosmart C5280, mainly because it prints on disks, and for the little colour use it gets it's been fine. The colour copy function is excellent, which means the printer can do it, so if you're having issues it would suggest there's something else in your colour management process that's spoiling the result. Paper is crucial too of course. Unfortunately I'm not a colour management expert so can't advise.

Just printing general documents it is stuffed you can see it is clearly not printing the colour over the whole section, it does this after a page or 2 of new ink.

Sounds like a nozzle blocking - which is what I experienced with refilled cartridges. If you're using genuine HP carts then I'd take them back.
