I thought the whole point about Leica's is that one does not do 'deals'.

One appreciates the name for its reputation and pays the asking price to join the club. Leica is a lifestyle investment and statement about who you are.

'Deals' are for tradespeople.

How attached are you to the little red dot?

The Panasonic LX5 is, to all intents and purposes the same camera, and available for about 1/2 the price.

Very. It is a much nicer thing, also comes with much better software, and will be worth more on resale if we upgrade. It's a present for the current Mrs Soov.

Fair enough. Didn't see they were throwing in Lightroom; pretty much evens the price out.

£599 is the best I've seen, from quite a few independents. You could always get John Lewis to price match if thats more convenient.

Good spot - thanks, although I reckon since I can get a brand new one for £549 through Amazon that's a bit overpriced.

Ref the resale argument - this is very much a factor worth considering if you are the type of person who likes to upgrade.

My several years old Leica D-lux 4 is worth more used than a brand new Panasonic LX-5. Crazy but true.

Plus Panasonic don't give you one of these:



And they don't have one of these
