Can you fit the lense (& adaptor) from a Canon G5 onto an S1?

I believe both are quarter turn type fittings and 52mm lense threads. I asked at a local Jessops. They said probably, but would have to contact head office. I still haven't heard back.

Quarter-turn = bayonet fitting.
