Ebay virgn: EOS digitals for sale, advice please
Discussion
I have never bought from Ebay before so can you lot give me a hand and tell me what the catch is with each of the following items
(I ran a search on Canon EOS digital)
1. 300D plus 2.2GB CF card
2. 10D
3. 2nd hand UK 300D
4. uk300D
Are they cheap because they are imports? Still seem like a bargin.
It all seesm to good to be true and so probably is!
Thankyou for your help.

And this one especially!
Why are these imports so cheap?
I have read through the buyers delivery and insurance costs and also the buyers feedback.
Delivery is £60
Insurance is £25
Import duty paid by a UK buyer was £46
That means I could have an imported EOS300D (Rebel, who cares) for less than £150!
Gott be too good to be true.
Looking forward to your feed back.

Edited to add: if he's in Canada HTF can he be 'Authorised dealer in UK'??? Why not get something cheaper to test him out?
I always assume "SCAM!" when I see eBayers based overseas offering themselves as "UK Agents"
Worth checking the feedback to see how many satisfied purchasers of EOS300's he has...... none? Expect to wave bye bye to your cash then.....
.....Especially if you win the auction, and the seller asks you to transfer money by Western Union!
There are a lot of people who advertise cheap goods but then clobber you for expensive "postage and packing" charges. No way should it be more than 20 quid to get a camera to you in the UK. Ebay gets its cut on the sale price not the P&P hence the desire to inflate P&P charges to make extra profit.
Those last two UK sellers have only just registered and have zero feedback, yet they are selling expensive new equipment. WHY ?? Probably scammers or selling seconds/fake stuff.
Having said all that I have successfully bought secondhand medium format kit in 4 digit territory off people on Ebay, but I made sure that we had a good email dialogue or telephone conversation first. Try looking for kit on sale in your area so that you can go and look at it first - genuine sellers won't mind as they're looking for trustrworthy people who won't give them dud cheques either !

In my own experience with selling and buying stuff on ebay, genuine gear in good condition tends not to go that cheaply, so if it looks cheap, there is probably a catch.
Good summary. I followed a friend looking for PowerBooks on EBay: the genuine ones quickly went for retail money while the scams were set at half price... seller was in Norway etc but the machine was 'in London', or it had been sold but they could supply another one at only double the price...
The more desirable the goods, the greater the temptation to fall for it. That's not to say they are scams for sure, but the likelihood is much greater.
As they in the car trade: if in doubt, walk away!
Edited to add: Item 3 on your list looks more genuine.
