Xmas pressie advice

SWMBO is a keen photographer, in fact she is now starting to pick up the odd commercial project, like photographing staff for a company web site etc. I want to get her a good book on digital SLR photography to help her develop her skills (she's done two or three courses at night school) and wondered if anyone could recommend anything. Failing that, what other gift of around £50 would most serious photographers really appreciate? Her current camera is the Canon 450 (I think)

Check out something by Scott Kelby.

Actually: check that you can put up with his humour (sorry, humor!), it's not everyone's taste. But, his style is pretty no-nonsense and well explained.

Rather than a book how about a subscription of some sort?

The British Journal of Photography is good, plenty of artistic stuff and less of the repetitive lessons of a lot of the mags.

Or how about membership of the RPS where she could work towards a distinction.
