First day

Hi everyone,

Like most people that join up, I have been a long time lurker and have thoroughly enjoyed reading the photography section. You guys are one of the reasons I bought a DSLR. I actually bought it yesterday. It's my first day with it and just thought I would share some pictures that I took today with you guys.

Please comment and criticise. I need some serious practice with it, so any advice from your guys would be greatly appreciated or any recommendations into any books/online tutorials etc...

P.s I will post up a proper introduction once my 14 days are finished.

ETA: All photos were taken in manual setting, playing around with the settings, I am sure if I used the presets they would have come out better but I am more interested in learning how to use the setting properly.

Thanks, It's my first day taking dry photography anyway, I have done quite alot of underwater photography in the past, so understand a little bit about shutter speeds and f-stops etc...

What makes you think the fire one is the best? I thought it was one of the worst, I just put it up for a bit of variation.

Yeah all of them are using the flash except the last one.

I have an irrational fear of the onboard flash, hate how it turns out.

I have only had my DLSR for a year, this section of PH is an absolute wealth or advice, experience and inspiration, look forward to your progress.

Thanks for all the comments, I live this forum because of the talent on here and also the willingness to help other people, so thanks already.

I am interested in arty shots, just trying to make something simple look cool. I want to get into.time lapse videos also.

I am shooting with a canon 400d with a sigma 18-200 lense.

I'm writing on my phone so will tidy this post up when I get to a proper pc.

Sorry about the bad spelling and grammar, I would like to blame it on my phones self finishing words thing, but my spelling is normally ok.

Thanks for comments, just so you know the escort is a toy car the other is a gt40 and an Elise cup car.
