Photography plans for 2012?
Discussion
Just wondered if PH togs have any specific plans for 2012.
Maybe a 365 or a 52, buy a new camera, try a new style of shots or just try and get out more with the camera?
For me, I want to get away from doing 365s or 52s
I have been doing a 365 since the start of 2010 and after 2 years I feel like I am not enjoying photography as much as I used to.
I am going to try and get back into enjoying shooting and not feel "forced" into having to take shots due to some ongoing project or another.
Got some good travel plans for 2012 so hopefully that'll mean plenty of chances to take some good photos.

My 2012 photography trip will be Peenemünde and Prora, looking forward to it already
I tried a 365 this year and made it to the end of January

My three goals for 2012 are:
Any other advisory goals for a beginner (3 months in with DSLR and no previous experience)?
- Master the settings and controls on my camera so they become second nature. This way I can spend more time concentrating on composition instead of fiddling with menus and buttons and missing the shot.
- Start doing PP and developing a workflow. I can't do any real PP at the moment since my only computer is a netbook with a slow CPU and tiny monitor. I also need to be much more discriminatory about what I keep and what I throw away.
- Pluck up the courage to start taking photos of people. I love portrait and fashion photography but lack the technique and confidence to pull it off. Until now, 99% of my photos have been of objects and landscapes.

I'm going to buy a reasonably powerful new laptop in the new year (hopefully) sales and dedicate it solely to my PP.
I am going to try to learn how to PP properly and spend time working this out.
At the same time, I'm going to try to get out once a week with the SLR and see what I can pick up.
I also would love to head back to somewhere in Africa again, and if I do, I will go for some photos.
In Florida for Xmas/New Year so it seems like the perfect opportunity to take some photos and possibly pick up a new laptop for the PP.
The only question now, is, Mac or PC?!?!

The same, except a different number one -

I'm going for an RPS Distinction.
I've got an advisory day booked for February 2012, I've just got to work out which 10 photos are going to make my submission, hopefully I'll get my LRPS.
Beyond that a move into medium format digital, and to sell more prints. I've got a gallery who want to display some of my work, and a couple of local arts festivals.

My list?
Put myself in a position to get more and better shots as often as I can.
Use my filters more!
Try out a few new shooting techniques and processes.
Work on more photo-journalistic kind of stuff, involve more of a story and more people in my shots.
Try and have some good entries for NZ geo comp 2012!
Gear time..:
Big change. Either switch to 5D3 or add a 5D2.
Sell the 10-20 and buy a 17-40L and 24TSE.
Switch mf 190xprob to a feisol tripod.

I have put a lot of emphasis on 2012 and set myself some specific goals and some plans have already been laid down.
1. Get in print. This is specifically for freestyle motocross. I managed to get shots on the Gumball website and FMX World covering the first amateur FMX jam this year by chance and I am booked to cover masters of dirt for FMX World at wembley which I can see will be a test of my abilities but cant wait.
2. Get my London book plans back in action.
3. Tone down my PP and develop and distinguished style to my shots.
4. Spend more time on landscapes and portraits as these are weaker aspect of my photography I feel.
Good luck to everyone. I am sure that there'll be a lot of enthusiasm and inspiration from here.

1. Take more photos, not just of the kids
2. Buy a Canon 24-105 or 24-70 (can't decide)
3. Sort out my 50,000+ (mostly raw) photos, they are a fecking mess
4. Get a couple of shots that are "canvas worthy"
5. Go on more meet-ups
6. Buy some b&w filters
7. Learn how to use external lighting
