3gp editing on win XP

Hi guys, I'm hopeing someone will know the answer to this.

I want to edit video clips from my htc desire which are recorded in 3gp, I'm using windows XP (yes I'd love a new laptop with windows 7 but am skint)

So, what is there out there that is

Windows XP compatible
3gp compatible
is decent

I've checked out sony vegas...version 11 doesn't like XP and version 8 doesn't like doesn't like 3gp.

Adobe premier...latest version doesn't like XP

Any ideas chaps? thanks in advance

I seem to remember viewing 3gp with Quicktime on XP if that helps.

checks htc desire saved video files... yep they're definatly .3gp

i can splice them together in quicktime pro but it doesn't work very well and gives a buzzing sound inbetween clips plus I want to actually edit the files and remove unwanted bits

I seem to recall you can/could get converters to change them into other file types, no idea what or from where though. It might be easier going that way so you can use a mainstream editing package.

Convert in quicktime pro, edit converted files in windows movie maker?

I don't know about on XP but Movie Maker will accept files straight out of my Desire on Win7.
