I'm thinking of doing one for 2012, what are the "rules"? can you snap away a day then choose your favourite? or are you meant to take one specific shot for the project per day?
If any one has a 365 they have done before on flickr or something i would be interested in seeing it!

I did one in 2006. I took lots every day and uploaded the best one on the same day. It's bloody hard work if you do it that way. I was getting over 1000 hits a day to the page at the end, so I felt some pressure to put up something decent!
I'm currently doing a photo blog/twitter feed and it works aout at more than 2 a day - but If I miss a day, so what.

One of the things that worries me is that being a naturally lazy sod, will i be able to shoot and edit a shot each day, i guess i'll have to try it and see. I wasn't necessarily going to put it online, and even if i did i very much doubt anyone would look at it, let alone thousands of people a day! So no pressure to take great shots! Although one thing i would like to see is an improvement in my photography over the course of year.
Baz - I have seen one of those before, great shots and an interesting project. I think mine would be totally generic, probably a mix of documenting the year with some "proper" photography as well.

I'm thinking of starting one, though I only have a passing interest in photgraphy and barely any equipment. Infact I think most pictures would be taken on my phone. I just like the idea of documenting a year of my life in pictures, as boring as my life is I'd like a way of looking back on it.

I'm in the middle of one at the moment (middle is perhaps a little optimistic, 1/3 is perhaps more accurate).
The challenge is twofold in my experience. First is actually taking at least one picture every day, particularly if you try to keep the subjects varied.
Secondly is actually doing something with the images - processing and uploading them etc.
I'm currently running quite a way behind with the processing on mine - and whilst some days are a chore, I've taken far more decent shots than I normally would have.

I've done one this year although due to a very hassled day back in February it will be a 364. 
I've found it very helpful to use a site like Blipfoto as it means you can see what other people are taking pics of and it's very easy to upload to. They also allow you to upload days later if you're not near a computer. You can also get it to add the photos to your Facebook or Twitter stream.
I take images of anything and everything that catches my eye so some days they are great and others not so but most have a story behind them.

I tried one last year. Got as far as July before stopping. Stopped enjoying it in the end as I felt like I was just taking a lot of my photos out of desperation rather than because I wanted to. Spent too much time wandering around the house late at night looking for unsnapped objects.
I'd still recommend trying it though. I enjoyed it for a while. Blipfoto.com is brilliant for this and it's free.
