Moon photos

Does anyone have some photos they have taken of the moon, saw some on a local forum and was really impressed with the detail that could be acheived!

Wow, some great detail on the terminator there. The moon looks so much more three dimensional when its not at full moon




I've been trying to get a snap of the terminator like that for ages. But I must be doing something wrong, I keep getting this instead:

Below is mine handheld using a Nikon D70 with a 18 - 200 Nikkor lens with image stabilisation.

I had better ones but my Mac appears to have lost them.

That was with a Canon 40D attached to the back of a 9 1/4" telescope which has a focal length of 2350mm and a fixed aperture of f/10.

You can buy an attachment that allows you to connect a camera to most telescopes.

My first go at taking shots of the moon, this was the best I managed before my fingers died (it's quite fresh outside!) Taken with my 450d and 55-250 at 250, cropped a smidge obviously. Quite happy as a first attempt, but any pointers to improving using the kit I have?
