I'm planning on going to take some pics either tomorrow or saturday (bikes)

where's the best places to stand for the quality pics?

Tomorrow's trackday is being ran by Easytrack and saturday by no limits - does anyone know if you need a special permit to go take pics in the pit lane?

I've never been so this is a first for me and i would like some up and close pics ideally.

I've done about 20 track days with Easytrack and have never had a problem, but having said that it's been a few years, so best to check first. Pit lane photos are no prob at Oulton, but you might need permission to stand on the wall between the pits and the start/finish straight.

If you can bothered/are allowed to walk down to the bottom of the circuit then you can get really close at hilltop for panning shots with a normal lens. This only works if the trackdays are the full circuit of course! Normally I park down there, but I'd imagine that entrance is shut on non public days.

Thank you for the replies lads!

I did email them yesterday and they got back to me about an hour after i posted this

its fine to take a walk down the pitlane as long as i'm over 16

which is a shame as i was taking my nephew who's 13 and into motor-racing big time. i thought it'd be nice for him to get a close up of the workings etc.

i'll have to see tomorrow where's good to shoot from and where isnt.

Well it is raining now so maybe a little slippy early on tomorrow. So if you have a long lens worth going to shoot at Knickerbrook. Druids especially the exit is also interesting and you can get fairly close there. Another good close up corner would be Lodge Corner, there is a sawn off tree stump roughly level with the apex of the bend you can stand on and get clear shots over the crash barrier. Knickerbrook and Lodge you can drive to on the inside of the circuit. Druids is a 5 minute walk from where you leave your car.

Had a good time walking around - got to Knickerbocker and being the unhealthy person i am i gave up trying to walk to the bottom of the circuit.

still it was a good experience - definately wanting to repeat that!
