photo stitching

Hi guys

can any of you recommend a auto stitching program that could cope with night time shots? I have tried one which is ok for day shots but struggles to find points to recognise at night. either that or if anyone fancys some beer money I just have a sky line shot of Bangkok city I would love stitched for my sister.

It is really easy in CS4 provided all exposure, etc are the same I guess, well it must be if can do it!

I don't mind having a go tonight for you, can mail me through my profile

You could try autostitch software (it's free) but the one time I tried it the final image was really low res.

autostitch you can adjust the final image size in the options. Not sure it remembers though.

I use pt gui pro, orsome piece of software, give the freebie trial a go.

thanks guys, will give both of them a go, would love to learn how to do it myself as have a few I wouldn't mind doing but this night shot is the main one I'm after to help cheer her up after her tt of a fiancée cheated on her 2 weeks before they were due to get married!

No problem, no recompense required either, it will take all of 5 mins if I can do it so can distract me whilst the missus is catching up with Corrie or some other dross.

thanks for the PTGUI tip, tried the free version and on me 3rd attempt its so much better than the free one a friend downloaded, think I will get the full version sorted later

so easy to use, dont know if im getting the best out of it but im happy so far with the pics. hard to get a good upload for a wide pic but heres another couple of low res examples:








wish I had of had a play with this before I went, would have spent a lot more time getting some panoramics whilst I was there!

Glad your liking PT Gui, I tried pretty much all of the stitching software out there, giga was the best but tricky to use.

PT Gui is easy, get the hang of adding control points and masking stuff and your all set.

I went pro so I can stitch HDR pano's etc.

Would you go so far as to say better then CS4 (what I currently use)?

I've rarely had good results with photoshops stitching, though I'm not sure I understand quite how it should work it either works really well or (90% of the time) goes hideously wrong.

I cant really comment as I havent used CS4, probably not that much in it if you are use to CS4 now, but my experience with PTGUI is that it just does it for you 99% of the time. In all of those pics it has stitched them together perfectly with no need for me to match any points up, only thing I did was to unsquash them with the compression settings and in the night shot make sure the boat trails didnt get chopped in half which took me all of 2 seconds with there masking tool. it might get abit more difficult maybe the more pics you use, each of those were only about 7 at a time, looks pathetic when you look at the examples and there is one of the Alps made up of around 2400 pics!!!!
