Pinnacle Studio 9
Discussion
Just wondering what people's opinions on this package were. I've had the free trial on the computer for almost the full 30 days now, so it's due to expire soon and I am now contemplating whether to buy the full version or not. Looking round the web suggests that people either highly rate it or completely slate it for crashing all the time. Anyone had any experience of these stability problems? The software has performed pretty faultlessly on my machine, but installing the full version might be a different matter.
It seems quite good value and it would appear I'd have to spend considerably more to get a more professional program. What are the opinions on whether Adobe Premiere is still the program to beat? Anyone have any experience of Sony Vegas? I don't really need all of the features of the more professional packages, but sometimes feel limited by the options in Studio 9.
Thanks

I bought mine for £38.99 a couple of weeks ago at Jessops because they did a price match with Amazon. I downloaded the (massive) 9.1 upgrade from Pinnacle's web site as recommended by many people. I haven't bothered buying the extra sounds or transitions though. A couple of samples of my work can be seen here: www.corvetteclips.co.uk/VideoClips.html

I did find it unstable at first but found that stability improved when I allowed it permanent access to the Internet through my firewall. Sounds like its got built-in spyware, grrr ! I do make sure I save the projects often, bit of a no-brainer as I've got used to MS programs too... I'm running XP on a 3GHz machine.
I wish left and right sound channels could be separated. I'm sure some jiggery pokery could be done but I haven't found out how to yet.
