im looking at getting a tidy set of Binoculars for various things, such as motor racing looking at views from mountains etc, i can really decide though, i think i have found 2 tidy sets but cant decide which are the best.

any help or advise would be great

Thanks in advance

here are the 2 i think are ok.

1.Z560 Megazoom Binoculars 20-110 x 28mm

2.Nikon 8-24 x 25 Eagleview Binoculars

Out of the 2 choices I would go with the 8-24 X 25s

reason being hand holding anything over 20X is a nightmare

Also the 1st pair has rather a small objective lens for 100+ X mag

yeah apparently if you go for ones that sound 'better' because they have more magnification, it can be really annoying as it means they wobble about too much when hand held, eg it's difficult to 'pan' a car when watching racing etc. Don't know what you need but just bare that in mind and read some reviews I guess.

7X25 means

7X magnification 25MM objective lens(the light gathering lenses at the front)

Yep. I recently bought a pair of Nikon 10x25s and in fact the 10x magnification is a little too much for the light weight = wobbly. In hindsight the 8x25 would have been easier to use.

It's a zoom, 8-24x. How far you will get towards 24x and hold the image in view is debateable!

Yes but with a 25mm lens the image will be quite dark at highest magnification - if you want to see things at 24x I'd go for a bigger objective lens. The ones I use are 8x42 Vikings and they're pretty good (and weren't too badly privced).

Leica and Swarovski are the best ones I've used but they are somewhat pricey.

You'd never be able to hold a 24x steady, unless you used a tripod.

I'd be looking at 8X personally here are some in your budget.

8X42 would be my choice.

I have had some binoculars with silly zoom levels and never found them particularly useful.

The only ones i ever use these days are a set i picked up at a car boot for £30. They are 7x50, and they have no focus adjustment at all. Everything you look at is in perfect focus, and whatever you are not looking at is not.

I think were made completely out of magic dust or something.

You get a strange 3D effect when you look at stuff and everyone who has ever used them has thought they were the best thing ever.

The manufacturer is JL Breaker. On the (orange) lenses is printed "Breaker Weilian Optical 7x119m/1000m 50."

I can't find them anywhere on the net, so i hope i never lose them!
