Your advice please.

I may regret it in the future but I'm looking to sell all my camera gear. I don't get many chances to dust off the camera lately and things aren't looking like changing soon. I've sort of lost interest anyway.

Anywho, as I said, I wish to part with my gear for some cash but I have no idea what its worth. If I posted up what I've got would someone be able to advise me how much I should advertise it for? I don't have a huge amount of stuff so hoping It would sell as a kit rather than in pieces.

If you sell via eBay, it'll be easier to sell as a kit. You can set as minimum price. There are lots of kits for sale there, see what they are selling for.

Do you think so? Personally, I'd always advertise items separately on Fleabay - give plenty of detail and be open about the condition and I'd tend towards not setting minimum prices or reserves because you want plenty of people following.

I was actually thinking of selling through PH classifieds or gumtree. I don't use ebay and reading through other peoples experiences puts me off acting as a seller on there.

It's nothing like as bad as the doom mongers say. I've sold plenty of kit and never had a problem.

Fine - Fleababy is not everyone's cup of chai. However - it would probably be your best guide on prices. Ebay prices can reach a slight premium - offset by the costs.

For PH classifieds and similar, I would definitely put one advert up as a "kit" and (if you are inclined) then indicate how you might be prepared to split it.

You have a point! You must attract the "interesting" buyers! Personally I am surprised to have only dealt with nice people - although they're even nicer through PH Class(ifieds)

I've done exactly that, taken ebay prices and knocked a few quid off the price of each item. The main gear will come with a couple of memory cards, a couple of filters, a remote switch and a lowepro back pack. I think I should be able to get what I want for it. Just need to write an add and take some photos now. Any more advice would be greatly received.

Canon EF-S 18-55mm mkII (The thread on the front has a chunk missing but other wise the lens works just fine)

I dont have the boxes for any of the lenses but the box and instruction manual for the camera may be in the loft.

I would definitely sell it as individual items on eBay - despite what other posters have said my eBay experiences have been very positive, no problems at all (so far!).

Given that it's canon stuff, I'd just pop it in the bin. Put it in the normal bin as some things just aren't worth recycling. Do it under cover of darkness so you don't have the shame of your neighbours seeing that you're a canon man. Glad to be of service

In all seriousness, ebay for maximum sale price and quickest sale but bear in mind that you'll probably pay about 15-20% in fees. You could advertise on AV forums which is fairly active and free. Lastly, give MPB a call and see if they'll buy it from you. Their offer will be lower than you'd get privately but hopefully not insulting and hassle will be minimal.
