Hi Matt - some nice pictures - loving the colours and tones you get in that part of the world.

Without wishing to sound like an arse, are you familiar with something called the 'rule of thirds' ? It's a guideline around photographic composition - not an absolute rule - to get you thinking about what you want your photograph to be of. I think it's also connected with what the eye and brain find pleasing in terms of composition.
For example, in the first one, there's a lot of colour in the sky and the contrast to the buildings is noticeable, but the sea and boats in the foreground seem lost. If you were to angle the camera down a tad to get more of the sea in the frame, it can lead the eye into the frame to help the brain know what you're trying to show it.
Same with the second one - half the picture is sky, but the buildings are the really interesting bit and I want to see more of them

Just to borrow one of your other photos as an example, this one caught my eye and I really quite liked it because of the composition:

And the one of the dhows in the harbour works nicely because of the way you've composed / cropped it.
Sorry if this comes across all 'know it all' - I really don't !! - but I hope my explanation above makes sense.
