Just a heads up Sony is running a cash back offer at the moment for anyone thinking about buying one in the coming weeks.

Here is the link to the offer

I'm looking at the HX20, based on how excellent the HX9 was reviewed.

I'm hoping for it to drop a bit nearer to £250 plus cashback though!

Oh really?! What do you like/dislike about it so far? I know it's early days, though...

Well, although its a compact, it does pack a decent punch. I wanted something with decent zoom and so the 20 appealed to me mainly for this reason.

It really is a nice camera to use, has a huge range of features, and even the 'intelligent auto' and 'superior auto' mode settings seem to get great results. The colours are really vivid (as I guess most decent modern compacts would be!) I really like the background de-focus mode. It gets nice results on most shots.

I'm not a great photographer, but i do have a growing interest in it, and I will be getting a D-SLR soon, but right now wanted a decent compact as I travel a lot with work and it is more convenient for me at this time. I tried a fair few to compare, and although I guess it's very false trying to see picture quality in a brightly lit shop, the Sony really did stand out.

I haven't read any proper reviews on it yet, and to be honest I'm only part way through playing around with it myself.
I want to see how it copes with fast moving targets (cars, motocross etc) so wil l have the chance to play with the manual setting for shutter time etc. I don't expect it to get fantastic results here but will be interesting to see.

In 2 weeks I am driving through Spain, France, Italy, over the Alps and into Switzerland back to the UK, this is partly why I have bought the camera now and not waited, so hopefully will get some good shots from it.
