Anyone nears Berks with a Macro lens?
Discussion
Morning all!
In a slightly random way, i've just started planning a tattoo and it's looking like I need some help from someone decent at macro photography.
Basically i'm looking to take some close up shots of my eye/iris to then incorporate into the design, but my current lens just don't show up the detail.
Is there anyone near Berkshire with some Macro experience willing to lend a hand? Presumably it shouldn't take very long although I think natural daylight seemed to help?
Happy to travel to you and provide some beer money or a ride in the Tuscan in return!
Cheers

If no-one can help you, you might consider hiring a macro lens, it's pretty cheap for a single day. Quite a few camera shops do this nowadays, I guess google will be your best bet to find one nearby. In a slightly random way, i've just started planning a tattoo and it's looking like I need some help from someone decent at macro photography.

Depending on how much detail you want, you may not need a macro lens, but just one that is capable of taking sharp images.
The image below was taken with a 70-200 zoom lens set at 95mm from about 6-8 feet away. I've had to reduce it in size to meet posting requirements, but the image below that is a 100% crop from the first image. Obviously if I had zoomed in a bit more or stood a bit closer I'd have captured more detail in the eye, but I hope it demonstrates what you can do with an ordinary lens.

I'll echo the above with you might not need a dedicated macro lens. This was taken with my Tamron 17-50 lens and is pretty damn sharp and clear! And i'm in Camberley in Surrey as well so might be able to help!

Just use your kit lens and reverse it. Hold it against the camera opening and move in and out to focus.

Cheers all,
I might look at renting one for a day to have a play. I've tried with my current lenses, but can't seem to quite get the detail that i'm looking for. I'll have a go with the lens the other way round though!
It's mainly the pattern of the iris itself that i'm interested in capturing, something like this (which I believe would have been a macro lens by the look of it)
