I'm finding the limit of my camera increasingly recently, unfortunately a lot of the images came out very noisy and badly reproduced, it can be fixed, but some of the others are crackers (if I do say modestly myself)!

I love photography I think I'm going to try a few studio'esque shots sometime, plus I'm going to pinch my dads F70 when we go to Croft for our track day

They seem pretty good to me. It's on shots like 1 and 2 that I find myself wondering which bit to get central for the exposure. I've also been swapping between matrix metering and centre-weighted metering - sometimes there's no difference; at other times it's enormous. At least with digital you can take several with varying settings, auto bracket etc and not have to worry about using up film!

Re the F70, here's a good idea: why not buy mine and be a twin-F70 (F140?) family?

always the seller eh My dad doesn't use his much and the development costs deter me from getting my own SLR (when I do it'll be digital).

I was thinking an interim camera might be an idea, but I'd hanker after a full SLR... Best to learn the tricks/improve with what I have and then get an SLR when I possibly make money from selling the images

I've changed the 2nd image for another one there, much nicer IMO.

just noticed something, the first time I posted some of my images I recieved fair and extensive critism, now-a-days people tell me they like a picture I have taken. I'm hoping it's because the images I choose to not only take, but also post are better

Well since you mention it, the highlights are a bit hot in all three and the first one isn't level...

Phew, thought I was losing my touch for a moment

We had a gorgeous sunset over London last night, stopped and got these on my way home:

In the second shot you'll notice a BAe 146 halfway down the the runway on its way out of city airport, I could have taken a shot almost from the end of the runway but there's nowhere to leave the car.

It just means that they are 'burned out', ie completely white with no detail. Even if you try darkening them in PS, they just go grey.
I notice this a lot in contrasty shots now I've got the D70 - not only can you check the monitor and reshoot with exposure compensation if needed, but it has a very handy 'highlights' mode where the burned out parts flash. I'm starting to keep the camera on -1/3EV to reduce the risk.
If you think you've got a winning shot, it's worth doing this or bracketing just to make sure. After all the film is free!

I love the way the light of the waining sun falls on the side of the towers; and the grainy effect too. Was that intentional?

Cheers! Couldn't agree more, the sun highlighting the side of the buildings looks great just about anywhere, anytime. Not sure why the image has come out grainy, I didn't shoot a particularly quick ISO and its still a little grainy in the full size version (Its 0.5MB: http://elysianconsultants.co.uk/stephenhall/Landscapes/Wharf_Sunset_060804b.jpg). Still, pleased with the result anyway.

Not sure it's up to the same quality as other pics here, but would you guess this was taken in the UK?

Fistral beach, Newquay - a couple of weeks ago

BTW I'm open to advice on how it could be improved in Photoshop.

Looks good to me. The key is the figure.

OK, crop a bit off top and right so the sun and figure are more balanced.

Great colours!

Yep - some slight cropping could make a big difference here. Rule of 1/3's and all that.

This is how I would've cropped it:

I'd have gone for an even tighter crop

Two quick ones. (Don't worry - will delete in a couple of days from Fotango as it's your picture not mine)

or even tighter as;

I quite like the last one even though you do lose the reflection of the sun on the water on the beach you so beautifully captured. It gives me a feeling of "warm solitude". Kind of you standing there drinking in the last rays of the sun and you're the only one there enjoying this marvellous sight.

A small amount of cropping can sometimes really improve an already good image.
