Righty ho, I need some help.
We have had a Panasonic tz for some years and it has now died a death.
I want to go up to a CSC but have no skill to compare the different models, the results all look the same to me.
The two models I have in mind are the Panasonic gf5 or the Nikon j1. We mainly take family photos with a few holiday landscapes.
Your opinions are welcome, even to change my mind - just to say we deffinatly do not want a dslr.

TBH gf5 doesn't look like enough of an improvement to warrant the extra outlay over a blowout gf3 to me.

That is about half the price.
J1 also miles cheaper than when it came out

I don't have a great deal of faith in Nikons support for their new format going forward though. No new lenses and the only firmware updates fiddled with a couple of things, they just seem much more interested in the DSLR line.
Another line of thought is to stick compact and wait and see what the LX7 will bring to the table

It goes without saying that the Sony RX100 looks like an interesting proposition.
