You can still use the remote to start and stop a camera and change settings, the app is rumoured to be released late August now so that will probably be about Christmas frown

I want it to stream video pic's from a model heli that we're going to use for air photo work, not much point getting it till the App comes out...

The non-app features were more than enough of a selling point for me. The app features will be a great bonus..

It's a lovely bit of kit which works really nicely as it is..

So what does it currently do that a remote wouldn't? To stream and capture on another device, clear of the action, will be cool.

I know that, my point being, wifi capability is wasted to just be used as a remote... It's a bit like buying a V12 that only runs on six.. I'll wait till the App's out methinks.

You're quite right.... until the App comes out.

It's more than just a dumb remote sending commands - it's doing 2-way comms and mirroring the little LCD display on the unit (that shows status, menu options, etc) to the remote. So when you press the button to start recording, you can see from your remote that it's actually started, space left on the card, how much battery is left, etc.

A fairly niche use, but if you ever have the camera somewhere out of sight or (especially) out of reach, I can see it being a godsend.

Mounting the camera on the inside of a race car and being able to trigger it externally is going to make a HUGE difference for me..

Mounting it on the outside of my microlight and being able to start it remotely will make an even bigger difference for me laugh

Waiting for the app is driving me nuts, I bought it for those features and was expecting to wait a week or two ... It's now a month with nothing.

I heard rumours, that I can't back up with any reference, that Apple won't allow the app because it breaches their rules on hardware access

Same here smile
Infact, I don't think any of the other streaming features will be much use to me.

Out of interest, the Ads say that one remote can control more than one camera, so can you buy a separate backpack for a 2nd camera if you have already got the remote with the 1st backpack?

Not sure anywhere in the UK stocks it yet, but the US site lists both a Wifi BacPac as well as the Wifi BacPac "combo" with the remote.
