the standard on there seems so high!
I'm working on lowering it for you

I'm also beta testing the Android app for them (I got chatting with 2 of their developers on Twitter) - it's bloody excellent. They're a talented bunch.

Really nice photos you have there. I like 500px too and find it inspirational and depressing in equal measure. I haven't posted anything on there though.getting a bit frustrated with Flickr so giving this a whirl only three photo's up just now but this is my profile.

99% of the time I view it on an Android tablet and think it works really well. If you have a subject in mind just search for it, stick slideshow on and sit back.

Nice you can often see the exif data and photographer comments sometimes too. I like hearing what inspired the photographer if they have chosen to share that.I'm on there, I use it mainly for inspiration and only put a few of my faves on there... kind of like a selective flickr!

I do what Binliner does too. I use Flickr as my image dumping site for backing up as much as anything and my favourites go on 500px.
It's also, in conjunction with PH, a not bad way of gauging how good your shot is.
Same here, it's the way to go for me.It's also, in conjunction with PH, a not bad way of gauging how good your shot is.
I think of Flickr as a more informal place to show whole sets of images - almost like a blog or account of an event - whereas I treat 500px like a portfolio, where only my best and most considered stuff will go. It's actually quite interesting to do this, as it reminds you of your best work from past years that otherwise gets buried 50 pages back in your flickr photostream. So for me it's not a case of 500px vs flickr, but 500px + flickr.
I think this forum is much better for constructive criticism though, both flickr and 500px seem to have a large number of insincere sycophants just wanting you to 'like' their stuff in return, rather than providing useful feedback.

Btw my 500px profile is here.

I'd forgotten I had a 500px account.
It's a bit intimidatingly good for me to put any actual content on there, but the plan was to do as others have: flickr for everything, 500px for the really good ones. Maybe I am doing that, but don't have any really good ones
Just put your best ones on 500px, you can always remove them from the profile when you have better shots to replace them with It's a bit intimidatingly good for me to put any actual content on there, but the plan was to do as others have: flickr for everything, 500px for the really good ones. Fair point - looking at my flickr though it seems the only things I've taken pictures of for three years are interesting cars I've seen in car parks and my daughter. Will look through - and I've requested a new password of 500px

I moved over to 500px a few months back, flickr seems to be going downhill, or maybe people dont like my stuff anymore since I now mainly shoot cars, in any case I prefer the layout and the simplicity of 500px. Plus as mentioned, the standard is much higher....
