Jpegs - Batch editing the year they were created

I have over 200 photos that I took whilst the date was set incorrectly in my camera . The day and month is correct, but the year is wrong. I use iPhoto on a Mac and sort all my pics in date order, so you can see this causes a problem.

Is there any way I can batch edit just the year on these photos so they slot back into their rightful place in the order?

Yes - you can do a batch update using Phatch: http://photobatch.stani.be/

Or if you have an Ubuntu machine than imagemagick on the command line.

I've not tried it in iPhoto, but I believe it is possible in Lightroom, I have certainly been able to batch edit the time on images before.

I had a quick look at that but I didn't even understand the install process so I decided to steer clear!

I manually edited all the pics individually in iPhoto last night as it was bugging me. Took me while but it's done now.

I have a really old version iPhoto so maybe it's possible in newer versions.

Photos, Batch Change.

Change the date and modify the original files..

That wouldn't work for me as I want to amend the year, but leave the day and date alone, which are all different.

It will - you just change the year..

On my version of iPhoto, there is only a single field for the date, not separate for the year. Unless I'm missing something, I could amend all the pics to the exact same date but not keep the original day and month and just edit the years. Hope that makes sense.

Can't you do a software update and get a later version of Iphoto..

Click the Apple, Software update..

Apple don't provide free updates for iPhoto, except in relation to patches and bug fixes. Essentially you're fixed with version you get when you buy your Mac unless you subsequently buy iLife.
