Photography at Croft

I'm hoping to get to the nostalgia weekend this Sunday and would like to take photographs. Whilst I've driven round Croft a couple of times I've never attended as a spectator on a race day and I don't know how close to the track you can get?
For anyone who's been, could I get close enough to use a 70-200mm or would a longer lens be better?

Well, only been once in recent times (Nostalgia last year) but 70-210 and my 2x extender (don't have a 1.4x) was very adequate. I was the other side of the fence but there's not much in it and in the areas available for spectators you are quite close to the action - just the fences to work around where you can't get over the top of them.

Great, friendly circuit and a great weekend. Take a wide angle or two for use with the Nostalgia part of the show. Fingers crossed for less 'drought' than last year - though to be fair it sort of added to the fun.

At certain times last year it got too wet to race - however it was still interesting photographically speaking and when they run in the rain there are some 'different' opportunities especially when close enough to to the action.

The mound, overlooking the corn field, seems popular and nicely countrified for photo backgrounds.

Great track for taking pics, very little catch netting and you can get really close to the action. It's probably the best track in the UK for photography without a press pass, shame it's too close to Darlington and all the local hotels are terrible

Thanks. When I think back to when I last drove it, it looked like you could pretty much walk right round the circuit behind the barriers.
Fortunately I'll not be needing a hotel, it's only a 40 minute drive from home
