I'm more lurker than poster... but this is such an awesome example of time lapse I need to post.

if any one can give me a link to how the night sky effect was done without getting trails I would be grateful.

Take lots of photos in succession with a max shutter speed of 30 seconds to reduce trails and a low f-stop to get the detail then in the video software make each one last say 0.05 seconds one after another to give a smooth movement accross the sky. Simples.
