Looking for a new camera for my mum , so needs to be from the UK preferably amazon.co.uk wotn be used for anything other than family snaps.
Canon powershot A2400 is a possible but on the pricey side I think.. Should work well enough

Rob, when I loaded the linked page I noticed an 'also bought' at the bottom suggesting a black edition of the same camera for just under 20 quid less. Still Amazon as far as the information suggested.
Thought I would mention it.
Not familiar with current range as I haven't had to look for a while but it might be worth considering the Canons with the AA batteries as an alternative. I suggest this simply because the issue of 'I got the camera out to take to a photo opportunity and the battery was flat when I tried to use' is mitigated since AAs are usually available somewhere ...
Just a thought. Your mum may be more organised than a pal I was chatting to yesterday for whom such results have been regular occurrences over the years I have known him.
