Kuala Lumpur Time Lapse

makes me want to get into photography
It is very impressive but my view is that this is something done by someone with a very good "videographer's" eye more than a photographer's. Is there a difference in other people's opinion? Even so, there are a number of 'stills' in the sequence which are still good photos!I feel like some people (not directing this at people on here) who haven't made a time lapse before don't appreciate just how much work that was to make! Also, it's an HDR time lapse which I've done (albeit no where interesting and only for about 3 hours) and it is a very long process. Hats off to that man

Having given up on a very amateur home version of a time-lapse I tried, I know how much effort that would have taken - not just the photography either! Hence my comment about the "videographer's eye" - in many ways, it's a film that must have been very well planned before any photographs were taken and a huge amount of work during and after that!dxbtiger said:
My mate is trying to do a simple one now and struggling to create the video.
What's the easiest (he is a 50 year old technophobe) software to use, assume there is some freeware somewhere?
I used VirtualDub when I made one. It's not hugely user friendly but I used a tutorial and it wasn't too hard. Think it just took a folder of JPGs and then produced an AVI file. What's the easiest (he is a 50 year old technophobe) software to use, assume there is some freeware somewhere?

Thanks, have passed the message on.joema said:
Anyone got any they want to share?
Quite like this one https://vimeo.com/51621640 Endeavour's last journeyWow, that's a great one. HDR time lapse sounds like quite a challenge to do, but the result is quite stunning.
As for all the camera angles and changes. I can't even begin to imagine the planning that it took, it all seemed so seamless and flowed very well showing different speeds too. 640 Gigabytes of data and just under 20k photos is believeable for that result.
I've only just started to do a few time lapses myself (they are hardly a new concept so nothing original) and can appreciate some of the time involved, but not the results of this one.
I recognised a lot of the sights too having lived in KL for a while, which made it all the more better.

Over the last few years I've been using my Sony R1, Canon 60D and GoPro to shoot timelapses at many of the spots I've visited on my travels, in general they are just sitting there capturing the world go by for anywhere between 30mins and 7hrs, then thrown together to make a sub 1min video each time and uploaded to Flickr.
My intention was to put them all together at some point, but as normal work gets in the way of finding the time to do so...
Also, there's a distinct lack of music etc, but if you're bored you can find the set of 40 on my Flickr at the following link:-
