Really? Great news. Let's have a bit of PH speculation then.
I reckon they will stay with the DX format sensor, but bumped up to 9MP. Also I think that it will be a switch back to a normal CCD, not the LBCAST etc etc that the D2h uses. I pray for the use of Li-ion batteries. I can't think of any other big changes they might add...?
If this is the case I think I will wait for the D3. The 5.9MP on my D1x is good enough now, and I want at least a 50% (13.5MP+) increase in resolution to justify the cost.
what does everyone else think is going to happen?

Apart from the obvious picture quality to above A3, I'm hoping for a wider spread of ISO settings, a faster d/load speed via firewire. If there was ANY way they could fix it so that I don't have to send the body off to get the CCD cleaned every year it would be nice (some hope)...
..Oh and while we're at it how about some overnight snow followed by a sunny day this winter. I'm not asking too much am I?

Seems reasonable to me.
Good point about the CCD cleaning. I use a compressed air can at the moment, but it scares me every time I do it.
I use sensor swabs and Eclipse fluid on my 1D. It's not as tricky as you might think. If I can do it, anyone can!

I'd like sensor technology which gives a wider dynamic range. No more blown highlights while also preserving shadow detail please. IMO its the main failing of digital at the moment..
I'd agree with that. How's this for an idea? You depress the shutter release halfway and the camera thinks: 'Hmm, there are very dark bits and very bright bits: I'll take one shot exposed for each, then knit them together in a clever fashion...'
Well anything's possible isn't it?

You'd better stand very still....

Must say the spec looks rather tasty...believe the UK price will be £3550

I may be waaaaay off the mark, and so stand to be corrected, but is this not what the Fuji CCD does?
(some blurb about it here in the S3 Pro preview....)
