All the gear and no idea
Discussion
Well not exactly no idea, not a lot but learning all the time.
First time poster in this section, although I have regularly followed threads and been astounded at the quality of some of the pictures. I had an Olympus e510 for a year or so, it didn't get as much use as I would have liked but it brought back memories from my youth with a 35mm slr. I don't have any particular photography preferance, I quite fancy a dabble at anything.
Over the last few weeks I have upgraded (read- spent money) to---
Nikon D3100
Nikon 50mm AF-d 1.8 prime
Nikon AF-S 18-55
Nikon AF-S 55-200
Tamron AF 70-300mm Macro LD Di(refused to pay £300 for nikon AF-S, although probably better, I won't be able to tell)
So that proves I'm good at spending money if nothing else.
I live in a wonderful scenic part of the country (the lake district) but because of that I don't always recognise the beauty, so many photo ops are missed. Hopefully that will be adressed.
Anyway, for you lot to pick on (be gentle) here are a couple of sample pics I took, while playing around with our cats

Straight out of the camara with no fixes

There's nothing wrong with spending a small (or large) fortune on things you want rather than need!
Heck I've got more gear than some professional photographers and I'm still learning something every time I go out.
This is a good forum for advice and ideas, if in doubt see what other people are doing that you like and try to work out how you can do it yourself.
This may end up in spending even more money, or for instance spending about an hour in spooky woods freezing your arse off wondering just what is making that noise behind you.
