Samsung NX1000

Being looking at one of these, anyone on here used one or had one if so thoughts?

Read a few reviews and looked at some shots and seems like a very good bit of kit, amazon are doing it for £399 with £50 cashback and a free galaxy tab 2 so quite tempted...

I've just bought one today, takes very good pictures.
I, like you and saw the same deal but in PCWorld.
I've just had a bridge camera, this is a lot more advanced so i'll be reading the manual for a change.
When I was researching which camera to choose, it was either this or the Panasonic DMC-G3 (i think)but the free Samsung tablet and £50 cashback won the deal.

I'm thinking of getting one of these, or the NX210. I'm not sure which one to get. Do I save £150 by buying the NX1000, or is the NX210 worth the extra, when I'll only use it a few times a year?

I've been doing quite a bit of research into compact system cameras as I was hoping to influence my christmas present (I failed and will no doubt end up with something useless)
To answer your questing specifically, I would not bother with the NX210, there are no real gains with the biggest difference being metal vs plastic body.

If I was spending my own money I would be buying a Sony NEX-5n. It has the smallest body, a full DSLR sized sensor, a handy tilting touch screen and in my opinion the most useful set of features. It lacks Wifi but its certainly not a must for me and it seems generally regarded as the best CSC at this price point.

Saying that, as these are aimed more at people upgrading from a point and shoot rather than someone like me downgrading from a DSLR, I imagine they are all capable of taking some good pictures in the right hands and more than enough for a novice to be using day to day.

Here's a couple of the cat. Hopefully they'll be full size should be about 3.84 mbs.
I brought the camera to use with a microscope for work and I'm waiting for the adapter to do a full proper test.
So far the camera is good with the pictures I've taken so far.

Please excuse the mess of this one, but I tried to take a picture of the moon (setting was scene/night) the thing what amazed me most was how well the camera captured the star/planet?? to right. I didn't really know what I was doing nor did I notice how long the exposure would be (30secs) but it's a learning curve.

While the Sony NEX range is very good, once you attach a lens, any size advantage is gone. The lens range is very limited and the good ones are very expensive. With a large sensor, you really need a decent lens to exploit the advantages the large sensor brings. Also the sensors are actually the same size as an SLR cropped sensor, not a full size SLR. This is probably what you meant and it is still a very large sensor compared to most other compact camera systems.

Fair point, as mine is going to be a gift I doubt I would get either the cash or the galaxy tab so not a consideration for me

Did anyone go for the jessops bundle kit with the 50-200mm lens in as well?

Is it worth the extra 100 or is it better to buy an adaption plate thing and use ither brands lenses? Admittedly they wont gave the i function but will this be noticeable in pictures taken?

I'm going to buy the jessops bundle kit. I would of bought it already, but I forgot to take my debit card with me.

Currys also have it on offer but its £20(?) more

John Lewis are also doing the original bundle but cant see the 50-200mm bundles nor if they sell the lens

Think ill have to go into Currys and have a play really and see if the extra lens if worth the money. Ive had a quick google on fitting other lenses on via an adaptor but i think youd have to be rock steady to take the pic or itll come out all blurry due to the lack of i-function (unless ive misread/understood the i-function on the lens)

so far so good, im not the best with a camera but they don't look to shabby, have a friend who does this for a living so going to give him the camera and see what it can do rather than using auto mode, and try and pick up some tips lol

I bought one this afternoon. I got it from Jessops, and got a bundle. With the camera and bundle, I brought home the camera, 16GB memory card, UV filter, camera bag, screen protectors and the tab. I'm currently charging the battery, so I've not had the chance to have a play with it yet.

Just purchased mine from Amazon. They briefly offered the 16mm pancake lens bundle for £470 but in the time it took me to find a memory card plus look at the 16mm lens (on amazons site) the price had shot back up to £520

Anyway, got a white one on its way (would have preferred black but never mind) now so thanks for the help people
