Tripod recommendations for a 10yr old girl?

Evening all,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a tripod for my daughter? She's just approaching 10, so unsurprisingly light weight is of interest, and shortness is an advantage rather than a disadvantage!

Weight-wise, it needs to be able to support a maximum of about 2-2.5kg for body & lens.

In terms of head, I'm thinking ball head rather than 3 way.

Ideally, I'd like to keep spending below £75. Happy to buy second-hand though.

I'd suggest something like the Manfrotto 732CY, carbon fibre so lightweight, and available under budget at £74.

Why not get a top-of-the-range carbon fibre one so you can enjoy it too...? A 6' tripod also does 4'

Personally I prefer pan and tilt heads to ball heads as it's easier to adjust one axis at a time rather than the whole thing going thud like a broken neck.

I've already got a Manfrotto 190xprob, so I might as well still go for something ultra-portable.

Very good, although my point of reference is just the piece of cheap crap I replaced with it!

It could be lighter, but on the other hand you don't want it too light...

I have a Velbon Ultra Luxi L which I use for travelling, it's only 1.3kg, will support upto 2.5kg and folds down to a compact 39cm. The head is a tilt and pan which also has useful spirit level built in.

Currently £74 on Amazon.

I've got one of those, but just find it too limiting. I always end up wanting the camera to be just a little bit in just about any direction other than where I've been able to put the gorillapod!

And is it easy to carry/fold/backpack? What about the horizontal column, works well in practise?

I've only found a need for the horizontal column about once! It does work, but it's not something I find essential, plus you have to be careful not to have the camera hanging out in the wrong direction to prevent it toppling over.

For carrying/folding, it's fine if you've got a camera bag which can carry it vertically, but rather too wide if you've got it strapped horizontally across the bottom of a bag.
